Yesterday, freshman Alderman Antonio French (21st Ward), proposed an amendment to the city budget which allocates an additional $287,443 to the forestry department. This amendment, which passed the Ways & Means Committee unanimously, will provide the city with three additional forestry crews.
These forestry crews are responsible for maintaining vacant lots and buildings across the city, including mowing grass and removing hazardous trees and limbs.
“As we go about rebuilding our neighborhoods, the task is made more difficult by the sight of vacant lots with 3-foot high grass,” said French. “The Forestry Division does the best they can with the limited resources they have. By adding these additional crews, we’ll be giving them the tools they need to do a better job maintaining these properties.”
French’s amendment will now go before the Board of Estimate and Apportionment for review.
Three additional crews for cutting grass is hgihly needed. I hope the proposed amendment is passed.
I live on Arlington Ave. St.Louis Mo.63112. I have been cutting the vacant lot next to my home for the last 4 years. Is there any way, I can get a city crew to come out cut the weeds behind this property? it’s gotten too tall for me to cut. .
I brought my home here on Sexauer Av. about five years ago and I love this this section of St. Louis, Mo. This street is quiet and my neighbors are great…..
Several years ago I called many times, email many times the former Alderperson about the trees on our block .They need trimming at the top and sides because they block the street lights at night and in some area of this street is too dark. Our trees were never trimmed. This area has 70% senior citizen
Bro. French please come and trim these beatiful trees and repave our alley ( it’s in need of care).
I’m looking forward to this being in the somewhat near future.
