Last Thursday’s 21st Ward meeting at Wesley House got the fall off to a great start, with visits from local politicians, community organizers and law-enforcement.
District 5 Public Affairs Officer Nicola Lampkin, Problem Properties Officer Shamantha Edwards, and District 6 Problem Properties Officer Julius Conner answered questions from residents.
State Senator Robin Wright-Jones, Representative Jamilah Nasheed, and Alderman Antonio French spoke to constituents, and local Organizing for America field organizer presented information on President Obama’s health care plan.
Operation Weed & Seed director, Edmund Hennessy, brought the exciting news that the 21st Ward has received a 5-year grant to become a Weed & Seed community! This means the area will receive additional funding for police officers to work overtime, as well as to bring about other community initiatives. (Stay-tuned for more info!)
21st Ward meetings are the fourth Thursday of every month at the Wesley House (4507 Lee Ave, 63115).
