7 homes to receive repairs Saturday through partnership between Rebuilding Together-St. Louis, the Boeing Corporation, and Alderman Antonio French
(ST. LOUIS)—Volunteers will rehabilitate seven homes on the 4400 block of Clarence Avenue this Saturday as part of the third Rebuilding Day to take place in the city’s 21st Ward this year.
Homes will receive a variety of repairs, including flooring, roof work, paint, and landscaping.
Rebuilding Day marks a successful partnership between the City of St. Louis, the nonprofit Rebuilding Together-St. Louis, and the Boeing Corporation, with the help of hundreds of volunteers. This partnership has allowed many more homes to be repaired in the 21st Ward than could have been done using City resources alone.
“This partnership has allowed us to stretch each dollar we have as far as it can possibly go while bringing real change to our community,” said Alderman French.
This month’s project is special, as many volunteers from Boeing are participating as a part of the company’s first-ever Global Day of Service. This month’s Rebuilding Day serves as a focal point for Boeing’s Employee Volunteer program.
In addition, students from the Construction Careers Center are undertaking rehab work on one of the homes on Clarence.
Three more Rebuilding Days are scheduled to take place in the 21st Ward in the coming months, with a total of almost 70 homes to be rehabilitated this year.
“We are thrilled with the success of our efforts thus far and eager to see the positive changes that these repairs will bring to these blocks and the 21st Ward as a whole,” said Dave Ervin, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together.
