REBUILDING TOGETHER, BOEING, 21st WARD PARTNER TO REHAB 66 HOMES ON CITY’S NORTHSIDE

7 homes on Clarence Avenue will undergo repairs this Saturday as a part of Boeing’s first-ever Global Day of Service

(ST. LOUIS)—This Saturday, hundreds of volunteers will rehabilitate seven homes on the 4400 block of Clarence Avenue in the 21st Ward. This is the third of six Rebuilding Days to be held in the ward this year.

This project is the result of a unique partnership between Alderman Antonio French, Rebuilding Together-St. Louis, and the Boeing Corporation. This month’s event is special, as volunteers from Boeing are participating as a part of the company’s first-ever Global Day of Service, which is the focal point of their Employee Volunteer program.

“This Saturday, over 230 Boeing employees, friends, and family members will be helping repair seven homes in the 21st Ward. This brings the total houses Boeing volunteers have worked on in the ward to 22 so far this year,” said Eliza Thompson, Boeing Systems Engineer and Rebuilding Together board member. “Boeing St. Louis and its employees have enjoyed the opportunity to partner with the 21st Ward through this year and make such a focused impact.”

In addition, volunteers will be joined this weekend by students from the Construction Careers Center who will be rehabbing one of the homes on Clarence.

25 homes on three blocks in the 21st Ward have already been transformed through Rebuilding Day events held in May and June. These events are the centerpiece of Alderman French’s “Block-by-Block” initiative for the ward. Through targeted home rehabilitation and clean-up efforts, Alderman French hopes to kick-start long-term improvements to the quality of life for neighborhood residents.

“This is how we’re going to rebuild the city of St. Louis,” said Alderman French.
