Volunteers to rehab 7 homes in north St. Louis.
(ST. LOUIS)—Volunteers will rehabilitate 7 homes on the 4400 block of Clarence Avenue Saturday, during the third Rebuilding Day to take place in the city’s 21st Ward this year — marking 32 houses already rehabbed in 3 months!
These ward “Rebuilding Days” are the result of a unique partnership between Alderman Antonio French, Rebuilding Together–St. Louis, and the Boeing Corporation.
Over 200 volunteers will begin work at 8:00AM on painting, roofing, and other much-needed repair projects for 7 homeowners on Clarence Avenue. Individual repairs will be accompanied by a block-wide clean-up effort encouraging all block residents to become more invested in their neighborhood.
Many volunteers for Saturday’s Rebuilding Day are Boeing employees participating in the company’s first-ever Global Day of Service. Students from the Construction Careers Center will also volunteer.
“This partnership has allowed us to stretch every dollar we have as far as it can possibly go while bringing real change to our community,” said Alderman French.
Three more Rebuilding Days are scheduled to take place in the 21st Ward in the coming months, with a total of almost 70 homes to be rehabilitated this year. To volunteer for the August Rebuilding Day, visit the 21st Ward website atwww.21stward.or or call (314) 769-9000.
