VIDEO: The Time is NOW for Local Control of Our Police Dept
Alderman Antonio French traveled to Jefferson City Monday to testify before the House Committee on Urban Affairs. French spoke in support of a bill sponsored by State Rep. Jamilah Nasheed which will finally return control of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department back to the people of the City of St. Louis. The state has controlled the department since the Civil War.

Aldermen pass smoking ban, contingent on County doing same
The St. Louis region is one step closer to becoming smoke-free. Alderman Antonio French (D-21st Ward) joined 19 of his colleagues Friday in approving a ban on smoking in most bars and restaurants.

Developer Paul McKee appeared on a radio show this morning promoting request for a $400M TIF. During the show radio show Demetrius Johnson, a McKee supporter, attacked Alderman Antonio French because of a quote that appeared in today’s paper questioning the impact to taxpayers. St. Louis American praises French’s preservation bill
It says something about the City of St. Louis that some of its youngest leaders are showing, in the early days of their leadership, an interest in preserving what has been here for some time – or, at least, instituting some formal controls over what is and isn’t preserved.
French Funds Additional Grass Cutting & Tree Trimming Crews
Yesterday, freshman Alderman Antonio French (21st Ward), proposed an amendment to the city budget which allocates an additional $287,443 to the forestry department. This amendment, which passed the Ways & Means Committee unanimously, will provide the city with three additional forestry crews.
