In June 2011, Alderman French led the charge to purchase a historic church building in the O’Fallon neighborhood to ensure it would continue to serve the community even though its congregation was disbanding. Working with the Incarnate Word Foundation and The Acts Partnership, they were able to raise the money and purchase the building, which they renamed “The Sancturary”.

The Sanctuary is meant to be a safe haven for young people in the community. A positive alternative to hanging on the streets after school and in the summer, The Sanctuary will offer fun, informative, structured activities for young people ages 11-18.

Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club is partnering with Alderman French to operate the facility starting in 2012.
