PREMIERE: Becoming An Educational Athlete with Dr. January
PREMIERE: “Becoming An Educational Athlete with Dr. January” is the second of two sensational companion videos on education produced by the St. Louis American. The first “Black in the Classroom,” with Curtis O’Dwyer, offered an intimate look at how black children and adults are treated in American educational institutions and considers how these experiences contribute to disproportionately high college and high school dropout rates for African American males. Both pieces advocate for strong academic mentorship of our youth.
In the closing piece, “Becoming An Educational Athlete with Dr. January,” Dr. Eboni January, a rising star in our community, discusses her book, “Educational Athlete.” She urges us to train our children’s minds academically the way that coaches and athletes train the body. The book is an easy to understand blueprint for success both in school and in life. The St. Louis American’s video conversation with Dr. Eboni January provides you with more than a glimpse of her brilliance.
