EPA Celebrates the Carter Carburetor Site Cleanup & Transfer to the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Dr. Flint Fowler, President for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater St.Louis, led a press conference to announce the cleanup and transfer of the Carter Carburetor building to the Boys & Girls Clubs. The Boys & Girls Clubs will Partner with Gateway PGA REACH to develop a youth golf training facility on the site.

Many officials were on hard to give speeches. Mayor Lyda Krewson thanked many of the partners who made the effort a reality. Jim Gulliford, Representative of EPA Region 7, gave thanks to civic leaders overseeing the project. Andrew Wheeler, EPA Administrator, talked about the contamination within the building and how much work went into stabilizing and cleaning the site. Lacy Clay, US House Representative for District 1, gave his thoughts on how important cleaning up the pollution is for the community. Ali Wells, Executive Director of Gateway PGA REACH Foundation, talked about the collaboration and creating a safe place for people to enjoy. Ozzie Smith, President of Gateway PGA REACH Board of Directors, talked about how the planned golf center in the site will help kids. St. Louis Alderman of the 3rd Ward, Brandon Bosley, talked about his experience in being a member of Boys and Girls Club and its historical importance to the community.
